Scotland has many lochs and lots of them are large enough to offer plenty of opportunities for sailing in Scotland. But sailing in Scotland is not confined to inland waterways. The coastline around Scotland offers many exciting yachting and sailing locations. Below you will find a small selection of yachting and sailing clubs located both on Scottish lochs and along the coast. Below you will see a small selection of the yachting and sailing clubs in Scotland.
Annandale Sailing Club is situated on the small historic Castle Loch in Lochmaben with its links to Bruce and the Wars of Independence. It may only be 150 acres (in old money) but it can provide both sheltered waters for the nervous beginners and an interesting test for those who appreciate the subtleties of inland racing. In either case, it's a most beautiful place to be at any time of the year. The club's main activity is dinghy racing and there is a vigorous programme of training geared to getting sailors to a high level of local and national success. However, with activities on four days of the week in summer and sailing all the year round there is plenty of opportunity for the more relaxed among us. In fact, some just come for the social side.........
Cramond Boat Club The Cramond Boat Club has its Clubhouse and moorings at the mouth of the River Almond, only 4 miles from the centre of Edinburgh. The Club caters for all types of small craft, including dinghies, small cruisers and motorboats.
The River Almond is tidal with access to the Firth of Forth for approximately 5 hours each tide. The Club organises dinghy and keelboat racing on a handicap basis, and class racing is arranged when numbers justify it. The Club holds open regattas and long distance races each season........
East Lothian Yacht Club East Lothian Yacht Club is one of the premier sailing clubs in Scotland, with a magnificent expanse of water from the sandy beaches and harbour to the Bass Rock and the North Sea beyond.
The club is a recognised RYA training establishment running training courses, club dinghy racing, keelboat racing, and a variety of open events. There is also a full social programme.........
Helensburgh Sailing Club The club offers sailors from beginner to expert the opportunity to sail in a beautiful part of Scotland in the safe, yet exciting inshore waters of the upper Firth of Clyde. There are few airs and graces in the friendly clubhouse of HSC which provides all the basics and is typical of a dinghy club setup with good changing facilities and a convivial bar area. Various national championships have been hosted here with regular dinghy traveller's events.

Largo Bay Sailing Club Largo Bay Sailing Club is a dinghy racing club on the south coast of Fife less than an hour from Edinburgh and Perth. The bay is sheltered, little affected by the tides and is reckoned to be one of the best sailing areas in Scotland. We have handicap racing on Sundays from March to October with an additional race on Wednesday evenings from May to the beginning of September.
There is an Open Regatta, usually in June, a Closed Regatta in August and five other trophy races which, along with the Series races, makes some 90 races per season.
A couple of years ago we opened an extension to the clubhouse giving us bigger changing rooms and increasing the number of showers threefold. A state of the art gas boiler has been installed to ensure these showers can run hot forever! We have an active junior training section using the club Laser Picos and are currently developing an adult training facility using Laser 2000s that we hope will bring sailors back into the sport..........
Loch Ard Sailing Club Loch Ard Sailing Club is in Central Scotland, located eight kilometres to the West of Aberfoyle and nestling in the heart of the beautiful Trossachs region. The club is located in the Trossachs and Lomond National Park. The Loch is fresh water, and acts as the source of the River Forth. Loch Ard is approximately four kilometres long by two kilometres wide, and provides excellent sheltered sailing water.
The Loch lies in the protection of a valley running roughly East-West. The views around the Loch are magnificent, with Ben Lomond dominating the horizon to the West. See the tourist information on the Queen Elizabeth Forest Park, and photograph collections that include Loch Ard.
